Joint NCBO-JCOR Tokyo Dissemination Workshop
On February 26-27, 2008 the first joint NCBO-JCOR Dissemination Workshop on Biomedical Ontologies took place in Tokyo. Approximately 80 persons participated. The program included the following presentations:
- Thomas Bittner (New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, SUNY at Buffalo): Ontology and Qualitative Medical Images Analysis
- Werner Ceusters (New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, SUNY at Buffalo): Harmonization of Patient Assessment Instruments in the USA: A Compelling Case for Realism-Based Ontology
- Shinsuke Fujita (Chiba University Hospital): Ontology based ICPC-3 revision to study the morbidity of chronic disease.
- Ken Fukuda (Computational Biology Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology): The INOH pathway database: Curation, Annotation, Integration
- Yu Lin (Kobe University): An Ontology of Genetic Susceptibility Factors for Diabetes Mellitus (OGSF-DM)
- Jun Nakaya (Information Center for Medical Sciences, Tokyo Medical and Dental University): Clinical Omics Ontology and National Projects in Japan (toward Social Information Infrastructure)
- Andrew Newman (University of Queensland, Australia): The BioMANTA Ontology: Integration of Protein-Protein Interaction Data
- Alan Ruttenberg (Science Commons / Neurocommons): The Semantic Web for Scientific Research: A ‘perfect storm’ for the development of Ontology

The event was organized as part of the Inaugural Conference of the Japanese Center for Ontological Research, which has been established with funding from the Japanese Ministry of Education and Research. Relevant presentations from this JCOR inaugural meeting included:
